Experience exchange seminar of NGO educators on
competencies for strengthening gender equality - workshops' summary
From April 10 to 14, 2023, the Experience Exchange Seminar of NGO
educators took place in Kristianstad, Sweden, it was organized by
B-Creative Association, led by Ingmarie Rohdin, Manager.
The content of this international seminar was aimed at increasing
knowledge and information about promoting gender equality, as well
as passing it on in the public environment, to which NGOs
contribute. The partners used information prepared by partner
organizations through the organization of local workshops on gender
equality issues. The operational nature of the partners (the NGO
networks) makes it necessary to inform other project partners and
discuss during this international seminar the capacity of network
organizations with fewer opportunities to pursue their goals of
strengthening gender equality and women's rights. These experience
exchange activities address issues related to raising awareness and
increasing knowledge of NGO educators so that they can provide
support related to gender inequality issues, particularly in the
field of education and employment.
Through presentations, informative materials and discussions, NGO
educators from Latvia, Estonia, Sweden, Italy and Greece -
Ingmarie Rohdin, Asa Hedlin Olsson, Ruta Pels,
Leonid Smulskiy, Lucia Scarlato, Marko Saccardi,
Stefania Nterelli, Glavvoufa Magga, Natalija
Kurnosova and Arnolds Ziemelis, as well as 5 local
stakeholders - shared their experiences and put together proposals
that will contribute to strengthen gender equality in the partner
countries and across Europe.
From the activity results, NGO educators from partner organizations'
networks were going to benefit: they are staff members, experts and
volunteer specialists, a total of 15 participants. The target group
members are people of different ages (30-64) and nationalities (5),
both sexes (12 women, 3 men), handicapped person (1), low-income
workers (4) and a pensioner (1). However, each target group member's
level of education (10 - higher education, 5 - professional
education) and previous experience in promoting non- formal adult
education are key determinants for them to participate and expand
their knowledge in this activity.
The partners of B-Creative Association introduced 4 presentations
and an exhibition to the participants and provided an opportunity to
share practical experiences related to successful gender equality
strengthening in Swedish organizations.
At the end of this seminar the achieved results were evaluated and
no less then 1 proposal of the participants was done.
