Local workshop of NGO educators on competencies
for advocacy of vulnerable people in Estonia
The local workshop was implemented in 15 May 2023 in Tallinn,
Estonia, by partner Eesti People to People, led by Ruta Pels,
President, Project Manager.
The activity increased the competence of 22 NGO educators in the
field of social inclusion. The target group of this activity was NGO
educators - staff, experts and volunteer specialists with various
ages (19-65), Estonian nationality (21), Russian nationality (1),
both sexes (5 women, 17 men), persons with low-income (6), students
(7), persons with different educational level (higher - 18,
secondary school - 4). However, every target group member's level of
education and previous experience in promoting non- formal adult
education are key determinants for them to participate and expand
their knowledge in this activity, then pass on their knowledge to
the members of their organization, especially to the most vulnerable
people.
The content of the workshop was aimed to increasing knowledge and
skills to promote the advocacy for the interests of vulnerable
people in Estonia. The participants discussed the capacity of
network organizations to pursue their goals for advocacy of
vulnerable groups of population. Through informative materials and
discussions, EPTP educators Ruta Pels and Leonid Smulskiy
shared their experiences of the situation within the association and
put together proposals that will contribute to the improvement of
the socially inclusive environment and the advocacy process. This
workshop also provided an opportunity to involve in the discussion
the participants with less experience in the programs offered by
Erasmus+ and in the context of the European dimension. Attracting
educated professionals to the NGO network will be an important tool
for increasing people's well-being in Estonia.
At the end of this workshop, the results achieved were evaluated.
