01.06.2023. Athens, Greece
Local workshop of NGO educators on competencies for advocacy of vulnerable people in Greece

The local workshop was implemented in 1 June 2023 in Athens, Greece, by partner Hellenic Antipoverty Network, led by Panagiota Arvaniti, Project Manager.

The activity increased the competence of 32 NGO educators in the field of social inclusion. The target group of this activity was NGO educators - staff, experts and volunteer specialists with various ages (22-63), Greek nationality (32), both sexes (28 women, 4 men), persons with low-income and unemployed (19), persons with different educational level (higher - 23, professional - 9). However, every target group member's level of education and previous experience in promoting non-formal adult education are key determinants for them to participate and expand their knowledge in this activity, then pass on their knowledge to the members of their organization, especially to the most vulnerable people.

This workshop was aimed at increasing knowledge and information about competencies for advocacy of vulnerable people in Greece. The workshop started with an analysis of what advocacy, vulnerability and poverty are. The participants discussed the capacity of network organizations to pursue their goals for advocacy of vulnerable groups of population.

Through informative materials and discussions, HAN educators Mariannella Kloka, Mado Baboula and Spyridon Psychas shared their experiences of the situation within the association and put together proposals that will contribute to the improvement of the socially inclusive environment and the advocacy process. This workshop also provided an opportunity to involve in the discussion the participants with less experience in the programs offered by Erasmus+ and in the context of the European dimension. Attracting educated professionals to the NGO network will be an important tool for increasing people's well-being in Greece.

At the end of this workshop, the results achieved were evaluated and no less then two proposals were summarized.
